Metallica Preview New Film 'Through the Never' at Comic-Con
Band offers a twist on the concert film
In Metallica Through the Never, a delivery boy (played by Dane DeHaan) gets caught up in a battle between angry rioters and a police force while Metallica perform on top of a gigantic stage at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The narrative structure and apocalyptic vision hardly make for your typical concert film.
"The film itself is multilayered. It's not blatant. It doesn't tell you what it's supposed to be," Frontman Hetfield said a Comic-Con panel, where the band presented the film's trailer on Friday. "Hopefully you can see it more than once and see something different every time. And not just a week later, but a couple years later."
